After spending time in Venice we rented a car and headed to the coast. Because we were doing two pretty touristy cities I searched for a smaller, Italian beach city instead of headed to Cinque Terra. Though beautiful, we really wanted to enjoy time away from the crowds and Zoagli was absolutely the right choice.
This small beach town in the heart of the Riviera is known for their amazing, fresh Focaccia and delicious pizza with real, buffalo mozzarella. And of course, the view is not so bad either. This little coast line is filled with small beaches leading right into the Mediterranean. The beaches are beautiful with clear blue water and sparse crowds. I would highly recommend spending some time in Zoagli for your beach getaway or a great intro to Cinque Terra. This town is very low maintenance with most of the business’s closing for several hours mid day during the week and is perfectly quiet. I highly recommend getting a few pizza’s to go and camping out by the water for the evening with a bottle of wine.
We spent three nights and two full days in Zoagli where we chose to stay through Airbnb. We were welcomed into our large flat by the sea with huge windows and a beautiful little garden in the front overlooking the Mediterranean. I highly recommend checking out Guilia’s place by the sea for your time on the coast. She was prompt in response, the apartment was beautifully clean, and the amenities were wonderful. After traveling for three weeks it was wonderful to have the option of laundry. Please check her out at the link below and book this trip immediately! You will not regret it.
If you’re looking for a quiet getaway, hidden from tourist eyes and cheaper than most busier areas on the coast this is the spot for you. We could not have been happier with out time spent in Zoagli. It was the perfect spot for relaxation and romance.
Zoagli has our heart and we fell deeper in love with each other and Italy and can not wait to return!
Arrivederci, Italy, until we meet again!
